Women’s Rights in Western Balkans (2023)

Women’s Rights in Western Balkans (2023)

The report serves as a benchmark for the six Western Balkan EU accession countries regarding women’s rights and influence, for comparison over time.

This is the 7th edition of the report, and it addresses four priority areas for advancing women’s rights in the Western Balkans:

  1. women in politics
  2. gender-based violence
  3. women in the labour market
  4. the situation for women human rights defenders

This year, the narrative sections of the report focuses on two indicators: gender-based violence and security for women human rights defenders, due to the severe deterioration of the situation in both indicators region-wide. Data for the other two indicators, women in politics and women in the labour market have been updated and annexed to the report.
